General
1. Is this the same education as the NASM course from America, is the material any
different?
We deliver the exact same courses that are delivered in America by NASM. We are their
approved distributor here in the UK & Europe. The content of each course is the same,
with some additional components included to ensure we fully meet the course
Accreditation guidelines aligned with the UK Register of Exercise Professionals. The
learning materials are the same with these additional components added. We also deliver
‘Live Workshops’ in the UK aligned to each of the NASM courses provided.
2. Is there a time limit on the course study period?
Upon registering for a course, you will have 120 days to complete the study and exams.
An extension can be applied for at a cost of £75. This will give you a further 90 days of
study.
3. Can I teach in America, Australia and New Zealand if I do the course in the UK?
Yes you can, however, to gain the NASM-U.S CPT status you must attend a recognised
assessment centre and sit the proctored theory exam. Information on how to go about
this can be seen at www.nasm.org. With the other countries, you will also have to sit a
further assessment based on that country’s policy & procedure. Guidance on this can be
found from www.exerciseregister.org.
4. Why is your course more expensive than going direct to NASM and buying the
materials online?
The price difference is based on the requirement for you to attend a minimum of a 2-day
workshop for the CPT course + a 1-day assessment covering not just a Theory exam, but
Case Study Assessment and Practical Coaching Assessment. There are also costs
associated with UK Accreditation of the NASM courses for each delegate that is aligned to
the Quality Assurance and External Verification of Performance Training Solutions Ltd.
5. How are your education courses different to other training provider’s courses?
See the link on the home page of our website: www.ptsacademy.co.uk, ‘What makes us
different?’
6. Can I pay less if I book more than one course or get a few friends to do the course with me at the same time?
It is not PTS Ltd or NASM policy to discount courses on a regular basis, however should you be interested in booking more than one course and/ or there are 3 or more parties interested in the same course, then we recommend you speak to a member of the PTS team on 0845 1 90 90 90.
7. Are payment options available for all courses?
Yes. You can pay a 40% deposit for the CPT, PES, or CES Course, and then pay a further
one or two instalments (payable prior to your final assessment). The other courses we
provide require payment in full.
8. When are your workshop dates for each course?
All our course dates are available for your reference on the Education page of the

Re-Certification of your CPT Course
12. Why do I have to re-certify every 2 years?
The purpose of the re-certification is to ensure your skills and competencies are kept
updated as a working professional within the service industry. NASM update their basic
CPT course every 2 years to ensure the course has the latest research, exercises, training
concepts and programme tools to enable you to deliver the best service you can. Recertification
is also aligned with your membership of the Register of Exercise
Professionals (REPS) and is aimed at supporting the mission to raise the level of expertise
throughout the Health & Fitness Industry, not just in the UK but worldwide.

Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS)

14. What is ‘REPS’ and how does it work?
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) has been set up to help safeguard and to
promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and
fitness instructors, teachers and trainers. The Register uses a process of self-regulation
that recognises industry based qualifications, practical competency and requires exercise
professionals to work within a Code of Ethical Practice. Members of the Register are given
a card and registration certificate to prove their qualification and membership. Also
known as the Exercise Register, it operates in the UK and across the world to recognise
